TEST #1: DORSIFLEXION

Can you get into the pistol position? The pistol is a full-flexion single-leg squat.

Start in a standing position with your feet together.

Drive your knees outward as you lower your butt toward the ground.

Rounding your back is okay, but keep your heels on the ground. The focus is on ankle flexion.

With your butt lowered, prepare to extend your right leg into the pistol position.

This is the complete pistol position. Notice how the left leg is in full flexion, the heel is on the ground, and the knee is tracking in line with the foot.
